American Dog

American Dog

Standing at 12 feet tall, the American Dog is artist Dale Rogers' most iconic sculpture. Many New Englanders will recognize it from a 26-foot tall version at Exit 48 on Route 495 in Massachusetts. "Historically, dogs have made positive and lasting impressions with people and I hoped that my sculptures would do the same," Rogers said.

The sculpture is welded with weathering steel, often referred to by the genericized trademark COR-TEN steel. This is the same technique used for Rogers' other piece featured at Settlers Green, Star Dancers, located across from Barley & Salt.
