Running along the trail to Zealand Hut is my favorite fall tradition in the White Mountains. Starting along a flat trail covered in colorful fallen leaves, leading to expansive views over the ponds, and then a short trek up to Zealand Falls to look out into the distant peaks. It is a quick five mile out-and-back and is a great way to spend a few hours on a crisp fall morning.
Julie, Assistant General Manager
Hiking is my favorite way to see the fall colors. Blueberry Mountain in Evans Notch is an easy hike and has a great landscape at its approach. It is an enjoyable 40-minute ride from North Conway.
Steve, Facilities Manager
Fishing is my favorite way to take in the vibrant colors of autumn. The Thirteen Mile Woods section of Route 16 in Cambridge follows along the Androscoggin River and has plenty of pull outs to stop and cast a fly line or just take in the views of the day.

I always enjoy exploring the colors by bike! The mountain biking in North Conway is some of the best in the East. My favorite spot with the family is Sticks & Stones and some of WMBEMBA East Side Trails, which is right along the MWV Rec Path (also great for biking). Or for bigger days, the Ride NoCo trails are steep, fast and fun for advanced riders. All run by local nonprofits, don't forget to donate if you use these trails!
Izzy, Marketing & Events Assistant
This will be my very first fall in North Conway! I am excited to explore North Conway and the surrounding areas this season. One of my favorite spots so far is the Scenic Intervale Vista on Route 16. I am looking forward to taking another visit and experiencing Mt. Washington surrounded by the beautiful fall foliage. It is a quick 10-minute drive and the perfect place to take in the gorgeous scenery.
Susan, Bookkeeping
I love to take my family and pooch to North and Middle Sugarloaf at peak foliage for the amazing panoramic views. The two fun things I like about this hike aside from the high reward for low effort ratio is that to reach Middle's summit you get to climb a fun ladder (mid-sized, doggie approved) and then towards the end of the hike, relax in the sun by the Zealand River that runs along the trailhead path!
