The Happy Conway Video Project is wrapped up, edited to perfection and awaiting its premier at the Fourth of July festivities in Schouler Park. Sponsored by Settlers’ Green and spearheaded by General Manager Dot Seybold, the music video is a remake of the popular Pharrell Williams, “Happy,” video. The production is a gift to the Town of Conway in celebration of its 250th Anniversary. With a production team led by Keith Force and Dick Pollock, filming began in July 2014 and continued throughout the year ultimately capturing over 80 separate locations and hundreds of “Happy” Conway people dancing including the town’s Board of Selectmen, police department, schools and sports teams, and community VIPs. The town’s historically important architecture and scenic locations such as the 1874 North Conway train station, 100-year-old library, the top of Mt. Washington, the golf course, and, of course, Settlers’ Green served as backdrops for the filming.
The video includes cameo appearances by the Conway Board of Selectmen, Infinger Insurance, the North Conway Congregational Church choir, the Mt. Washington Valley Curling Club and even Emmy-winning star and Conway resident Gordon Clapp.
“This project would not have gotten off the ground without the enthusiasm, technical and organizational abilities of Dick Pollock and Keith Force,” stated Seybold. They have spent countless hours arranging and rearranging complicated shooting schedules, organizing videographers, arranging for choreographer, setting up for special events and much more.”
The final video has been edited down to nine minutes.
“Keith has edited this video expertly and it really captures the beauty of our little town, along with the people who make up the heart and soul of what makes Conway so special.” stated Seybold.
Seybold and assistant Laura Tuveson saw Conway’s 250th anniversary celebration as a perfect opportunity to combine community support with creative consumer marketing. Throughout the year, the shopping center has used the “Happy” theme for their entire 2015 advertising campaign, creating a unique logo, a series of billboards and print advertising as well as on-site banners, events and collateral materials.
“Random Acts of Happy” took place with delivery of special gifts to all kinds of businesses and organizations located in the town of Conway. Nursing home staff, the precinct fire departments, hospital and schools, insurance and real estate offices and many more were treated with small gifts from the stores at Settlers’ Green. Everything from White Mountain Cupcakery cupcakes, to jams and jellies from Stonewall Kitchen and gift cards from Talbots and Tommy Hilfiger were dropped off to surprised and “happy” recipients. Keeping up a regular series of press releases, Facebook posts and other social media helped spread the word about the Happy Conway Video Project and helped establish Settlers’ Green as not only a fun and happy place to shop, but also a caring community supporter.
