If there is one thing we have learned over the last few months, it is that we are all in this together. Our management staff along with all mall employees and corporate headquarters have been working hard to ready employees and welcome customers back into its stores and eateries.
So, what can you expect on your next shopping or dining experience?
Here are 5 questions answered about shopping (and dining) in the new normal:
1. Will I be able to try things on?
Depends on the store. Each individual store has its own set of guidelines their brand is following. Some brands will have dressing rooms closed for the time being. Others may limit the amount of clothes you can try on. Our shoe stores have made sure benches are safe distances apart for trying on footwear. Again, each store has its own way of going about the matter. Additionally, items that are tried on by a customer are being placed in “inventory quarantine” if the customer does not decide to purchase the item, typically for 48 hours, before being placed back on the sales floor. We suggest you talk to an associate when you enter the store to get familiar with all of the store’s current guidelines and policies.
2. Can I make returns and what do you do with them?
Again, it depends on the store. Many stores extended their return policy on items purchased prior to brick-and-mortar shutting down back in March. Those returns will likely be honored. However, some stores may not be doing returns on items purchased today. Returns, like try ons, will be placed in inventory quarantine for at least 48 hours before going back out on the sales floor. Find that trusty associate when you enter a store and familiarize yourself with their current return policy.
3. Do I need a mask to shop?
Because Settlers Green is an open-air shopping center, you do not need to wear a mask in our common areas, but we do ask you keep six feet away from other parties. Stores and restaurants on the other hand are implementing their own policies. All employees are required to wear masks while assisting customers. Some stores are requiring customers to wear masks while shopping. If you don’t have a mask with you or are in need of one, the Settlers Green Customer Service Office has them available for purchase.
4. When will all the stores and eateries be open?
Great question! There are a lot of steps stores and eateries need to take to get open, with safety being the top priority. We are receiving updated dates daily, but dates have been changing frequently. For that reason, only when a store/eatery does open, we update their status here. This happens daily by 10 a.m. Right now, mall hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. M-Sat and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. A few stores have modified hours, so that list is your best bet for exact information for where you intend to shop/eat.
5. Is it safe to shop?
Safety and cleanliness are everyone’s top priorities. Settlers Green has increased its cleaning schedules for all bathroom and high touch common areas. Some amenities are temporary unavailable including stroller and wheelchair rentals. We have a full list of details of what to expect here, along with travel information if you are coming from outside of the local market. We have complimentary sanitizer stations located throughout the mall and ground graphics with reminders for the six-foot rule. All stores and restaurants have their own procedures as well. Some might be one way. Others might ask you to wear a mask when you shop. If you’re curious, give the stores you plan to shop a call so you can be prepared in advance of making your way to the shopping center. A directory is available here. And don’t forget, we do have a handful of stores offering curbside pickup for products for a contactless shopping experience.
