Regatta Great Outdoors opens first US retail store at Streetside

Family-owned outdoor and leisure clothing company, Regatta Great Outdoors, has opened its first U.S. retail store at Settlers Green Streetside in North Conway, NH. Company chairman and CEO Keith Black was on-hand for the official ribbon cutting on Wednesday, July 11.

Regatta Great Outdoors is a UK-based outdoor clothing company that was founded in 1981 by Keith’s father, Lionel Black. Keith along with his sister Joanne, the company’s Buying Director, operate the company which employs over 1800 people. The company has acquired other popular UK brands over the years including Craghoppers and Hawkshead.

Regatta Great Outdoors chose Settlers Green Streetside to be its first U.S. retail location based on geography, demographics and the quality of the center. The shopper center, which is located just steps from the 800,000-acre White Mountain National Forest, attracts four-season, active shoppers coming to the area to ski, hike, boat and bike, which is the Regatta brand’s target consumer.

“Regatta is the perfect fit for our customers flocking to North Conway for adventures in the White Mountains,” said Laura Lemieux, assistant director of marketing at Settlers Green. “This will be the company’s first U.S. store and we’re happy they’ve chosen us and this great recreational area.”

Additionally, Regatta expressed interest in Settlers Green Streetside because of the quality of the shopping center, both architecturally as well as its co-tenancy with high-end brands Michael Kors and Polo Ralph Lauren, and competing brands Columbia Sportswear, LL Bean and Eddie Bauer.

Regatta’s merchandise includes men’s, women’s and children’s outdoor clothing including leisurewear, outerwear and footwear. Additionally, it has outdoor and camping accessories including sleeping bags, tents, and backpacks. Product labels include Regatta and Craghoppers, as well as Dare 2b, which includes snow-wear and cycling gear.

“Regatta has over 100 stores spanning across Eastern Europe including Ireland, United Kingdom, Germany and Poland,” said Ido Mazursky, managing director of North America retail for Regatta. “We’ll continue to open stores in the U.S. as opportunities develop in areas that fit our brand’s mission.”
